Psalm150/The Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir

みなさま休日はいかがお過ごしですか。昨日は梅雨の晴れ間で真夏日でしたが、今日は一転して冷たい雨模様。みなさま体調管理にお気をつけて。

さて、今日はこちら。

なるほど、聖書の有名な一節Psalm150を歌にしたのですね。

Psalm150はこんな内容です。

Praise the Lord.
Praise God in his sanctuary;
praise him in his mighty heavens.

2 Praise him for his acts of power;
praise him for his surpassing greatness.

3 Praise him with the sounding of the trumpet,
praise him with the harp and lyre,

4 praise him with timbrel and dancing,
praise him with the strings and pipe,
5 praise him with the clash of cymbals,
praise him with resounding cymbals.

6 Let everything that has breath praise the Lord.

Praise the Lord.

そういえば、これをテーマにした曲で、Kurt Carrのこんな曲もありました。

なかなかの曲です。私も過去に某ゴスペルグループさんで、2度ほどこの曲をステージで演奏させていただいたことがあります。演奏側もなかなかやりごたえあります。まるでクラシックの組曲です。難易度も高めです。でも、本番やり終えた時に観客のみなさまからスタンディングオベーションをいただいて、すべて報われた記憶があります。もう一回やってもいいかも、くらいの気持ちになりました(笑)。
